and professional operations.
Who We Are
Since 1992, our family business has grown from a small
electrical shop in Welimada into a
diversified Sri Lankan
group. Today, our operations span agriculture, lighting,
home
appliances, hospitality and plantation. Quality,
integrity, trusted partnerships and
attentive customer
service continue to shape every part of our journey.
Our Story
Our journey began in 1992 when S. B. Rathnayaka opened
Sopana Electricals in Welimada with two
employees.
His
dedication to quality, trust and customer service established
the values that continue
to guide our business.
In 1996, his youngest son, Chandana Rathnayaka, joined the
company after completing his studies in
business and
electrical work. He soon assumed leadership and led our
expansion. We purchased our first
retail shop in 1999,
incorporated Sopana Electricals & Motors (Pvt) Ltd in 2008
and opened our
second Welimada retail shop in 2012.
Our growth continued in 2017 with the establishment of
Sopana Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. Through this company,
we entered
the agricultural machinery sector and developed an island-
wide distribution network. We later
expanded into lighting, home appliances, hospitality and plantation.
Today, Sopana Group brings these sectors together under
one vision. Our family values, industry partnerships
and
commitment to dependable service continue to drive our
progress across Sri Lanka.
